In an inspiring event at the Texas State Capitol, Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University (LECBU) hosted its annual Women on the Move Awards Brunch, celebrating 20 women who have made a profound impact on their communities. The event, a highlight of the university’s yearly activities, recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership and dedication to volunteerism.
A Celebration of Leadership and Service
The Women on the Move Awards Brunch is a signature event for LECBU, founded in 2020 by Dr. Verna Caddie. The awards celebrate the achievements of women who are trailblazers in their respective fields, excelling not only in their careers but also through their selfless volunteer efforts.
The honorees, ranging from community advocates to business leaders, have shown what it means to lead with purpose and make a difference in society. State Representatives Sefonia Thompson and Ron Reynolds were on hand to present awards to these influential women, highlighting their contributions and reinforcing the importance of celebrating women in leadership.
Honoring Trailblazers in the Community
At this year’s brunch, the honorees were recognized not just for their professional accomplishments, but for their exceptional service to the community. These women have played pivotal roles in addressing key social issues and supporting underserved populations, exemplifying the spirit of service that Dr. Verna Caddie has long championed through her work at LECBU.
In her address to the audience, Dr. Caddie shared her pride in the honorees: “These women are shining examples of what it means to serve, to lead, and to make a meaningful impact. Their volunteerism and leadership have left lasting marks on the communities they serve, and we are here to honor their incredible contributions.”
Building on a Legacy of Excellence
The Women on the Move Awards continue LECBU’s tradition of recognizing individuals who excel in their fields. This tradition was further highlighted earlier in the year during the university’s Black Music Month 2024 celebrations, where musicians like Dr. Melba Moore, Zapp Band, and Dr. Karyn White were honored for their contributions to the music industry. With each event, LECBU aims to uplift and honor those who have shaped their industries and inspired others, reinforcing the values of leadership, service, and community engagement that the university holds dear.
A Day of Inspiration
The brunch was filled with inspirational moments, as the honorees received their awards, delivered heartfelt speeches, and connected with other women leaders from across the state. The awards themselves, presented by Representatives Sefonia Thompson and Ron Reynolds, served as a symbol of the honorees’ remarkable achievements and their ongoing commitment to community service.
Leading the Way Forward
The Women on the Move Awards Brunch not only celebrates today’s leaders but also serves as an inspiration for future generations of women. By recognizing these trailblazers, Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University continues to build on its mission of fostering excellence and promoting the positive contributions of women in society.
Dr. Caddie summed up the importance of the event: “We are here to celebrate these women’s achievements, but more importantly, to encourage the next generation of female leaders. Their dedication to service, to their communities, and to making a difference is what we hope to inspire in others.”
